Robert S. Crook

Robert S. Crook, 84, a music teacher and former Music Department chairman at Batavia High School from 1948 to 1979, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at New York State Veterans Home after a long illness.

He was born March 12, 1922, in Newburgh, a son of the late Stanley F. and Martha Milner Crook. He was a graduate of Fredonia State College and served in the Marine Corps during World War II.  He was a charter member of Batavia Sertome Club and past president, member and assistant conductor of Genesee Symphony.

Mr. Crook was also past president and member of Mt. Arab Preserve Association of the Adirondacks and was a member of NYS Retired Teachers Associaton and Batavia Concert Band. He served as choir director at Batavia United Methodist Church for 28 years.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Conk Crook, whom he married Dec 21, 1947, a son, Stephen (Regina) Crook of Middleburg, a daughter Linda Crook of Batavia, a sister, Helen (Frederick) Mohlman of Long Island, three grandsons, Stephen, Charles, and Evan Crook, and a granddaughter, Alyssa Geddes.
