FULTON — Shirley Marie Schneller Toal, 73, of Fulton passed away peacefully on Friday, (Feb. 10, 2017) at Oswego Hospital in Oswego. She was a native of Batavia and lived in Fulton for the past 30 years.

Shirley was born on Jan. 16, 1944, the daughter of the late Lyman and Viola Schneller and beloved grand-daughter of the late George and Marie Sucher. She retired as a preschool teacher after 20 years of passionately caring for children. Shirley had worked for O.C.O. Daycare, Fulton; First Baptist Preschool, Lakeland, Fla. and Byron Presbyterian Nursery School in Byron. She was a loyal member of the First United Church of Fulton; active in Caring N Sharing, a cancer survivors group in Fulton, and was devoted to helping and listening to people in need.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, George David Toal, Jr. of Fulton; daughters, Chrystal (Don) Britt of Byron; April (Tim) Reed of Spicewood, Texas; four grandchildren, Ben and Kylie Britt of Byron; and Reagan and Ryan Reed of Spicewood, Texas.

Calling hours are from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 910 Fay St., in Fulton with services to follow at 2 p.m. The family will host a reception immediately afterward at the First United Church of Fulton for family and friends to share happy memories of her life. A spring graveside service will be planned at North Byron Cemetery in Byron. Memorials in Shirley’s honor are encouraged to the First United Church of Fulton, 33 South Third St., Fulton, NY 13069.
