- Batavians

Scanned images of all these Batavians are on a site called "ISSUU" that's used for publishing electronic magazines, books, pamphlets, etc. While you can flip through each Batavian in the minature form presented here (click on the arrows just to the left or right of each page to go backward or forward), clicking on the image itself will expand the page(s) to full screen. Remember to press Esc to return to the original format on this page.

In the expanded view you have a range of options:

  • Press the arrows (triangles) in the center left or right of each pair of pages to "flip" backward or forward to the next pair of pages.
  • Press the arrow/vertical bar at the top left or right of each pair of pages to go to the beginning or end of the yearbook.
  • Click on the image to enlarge it. Clicking on it again will return it to its original size.
  • At the bottom of each large image are 10 pairs (20 pages) of much smaller images. Click on those to advance or go back several pairs of images at a time.
  • Below that are a row of dots (5 for our yearbook). Click on any of those to advance or go back 20 pages at a time.
  • If you move your cursor towards the top of the large image an iconic pop-up menu appears giving you several more options. One of them (2nd from the right) allows you to print the page(s) you are looking at (fairly good quality).

Data DVD's of each of these yearbooks will be available to interested classmates for purchase at the BHS Store page (coming soon).

Our sincere thanks to Ms. Mary Ann Samuelson, the BHS Librarian who was so supportive of Jim Owen's request for loans of so many of the Batavians presented on these pages.

Note: To decrease the clutter on this page and speed up the uploading of data from the supporting ISSUU site, we've moved the more historical Batavians (1913 - 1955) to this page...

We are indebted to Jim Owen for lending us his copy of this Batavian for scanning. Jim apparently was a pretty popular guy (or persistant, anyway) in that there is a lot of writing in the sections we would be most interested in. However, here is a chance for some of you to see what your wrote to Jim over 50 years ago (and also see if your penmanship has improved any.) If we come across (or are offered) a less-marked up version we will replace these marked up pages (enjoy the "charm" while you can.)
